The above file consists of all of the materials I used in teaching the periodic table chapter. The beginning of the packet is comprised of guided note-taking pages where students are able to follow along to my lectures involving initial background information. The packet then goes on to display various resources that aid the students in solving and understanding periodic trends. The back of the worksheet consists of worksheets and practice problems that the students are assigned throughout the chapter as practice, as well as before the summative chapter assessment. I have found that these "chapter packets" are great for keeping the students organized and focused in class.

Similarly to the above document, this chapter packet involves all of the materials that were used in the chapter regarding chemical bonding. There is a section for guided note outlining, example problems, resources, and practice worksheets. These packets were introduced to me by my cooperating teacher, Mr. David Smith from Schuylkill Valley High School when I arrived for my observation period in January. During that time, I reorganized the packets, added my own touch, put in a few additional worksheets, and truly made these packets a product that I am proud of.

The file above showcases a quiz that I created for my college chemistry level classes while student teaching. It directly reflects the lessons that were taught and the example problems that were covered in class. The day before the quiz, I had stations set up around the room with example problems set up reflecting problems such as those that would be on the quiz. The students were given approximately four minutes per station to work through the problem with their partners and check their work against mine that was displayed on the back of each of the question cards. The students performed very well on the quizzes and the average score was higher than their previous quiz average where this review was not utilized.

This document is a copy of the powerpoint that I used to teach various pieces of my stoichiometry unit. The unit took three and a half weeks to get through and each student was given a packet to follow along with. The packet was comprised of these guided notes, 15 different worksheets to practice computing stoichiometric problems, as well as resources that could be utilized to help them with their work. Overall, I have found that using chapter/unit packets have kept the students extremely focused and organized.

The document above exemplifies a project that I assigned while observing at Muhlenberg High School. The students were asked to research an everyday product that they use and find multiple details surrounding their item. They were then told to write a formal letter to the person/persons responsible for synthesizing/creating the product or substance. The purpose of this assignment was to enhance research skills, writing skills, further knowledge of compounds and synthesis, as well as remind the students that there are many things in life to be thankful for. The project was assigned before Thanksgiving break. The rubric for the project can be found below.
